The purpose of Christ: An introduction
Main Text: Romans 10:9
Introduction:
For the past few weeks Pastor has been teaching on a series, ‘The purpose of Christ’. God’s intent for His children is to express the essence of divinity, by living the supernatural lifestyle naturally. We will be bringing you excerpt from this teaching in the next few weeks.
What is Christ's purpose? Was it just to be your savior?
When God sent Jesus to die for the world, what exactly was on His mind?
His purpose was to be your Lord: Romans 10:9-10.
In Romans 10:9, the bible says,’ That if thou shalt confess with thy month the Lord Jesus…’It didn’t say if you confess him as savior but as Lord. Being a savior was for a reason. It was a mean to an end- He saved you for a reason-To be your Lord.
Don’t stop at God save me because He saved you for a purpose. That means you are somebody, you are special. There is a reason for your being (life). Everyday when you wake up you know you are somebody.
The bible says, ‘ye are a chosen generation…… called to show forth the praises os Him that called you. 1 Peter 2:9.
His purpose for bringing you out was to bring you in: Deuteronomy 6:22-23
The main reason why God brought you out was to bring you in.
Deuteronomy 6:23 says, ‘and he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers.
1 Peter 2:9 says, ‘…who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light’.
He brought you out for a reason which is to bring you in. This was His focus and purpose.
The question now is where are you now?
Most people are only just out. They haven’t come in. Until you come in the purpose for which Christ brought you out is defeated. As long as you are only just out, you can not and will not enjoy the benefit of the new creation.
His purpose was to make you one with Him:1 Corinthians 12:27, Galatians 3:26, Ephesians 2:19-22
You are not just a believer; something more actually happened in you when you believed. You became one with God in nature and quality of life. 2Peter 1:4.
John 5:24-26, ‘...as the father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the son to have life in himself; and 1 John 5:11-12 Says, ‘ he that hath the son hath this life’.
Acts26:17-18.
How real is this life that Christ brought to you?
If truly Christ is in you, He must be doing some thing in you.
What is Christ doing in you? 1John 3:8.
For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Every time the son of God is manifested the work of the devil is destroyed. The good news is that He is manifesting through you, because you have become one with him. Whatever God does today He does through you. Halleluiah!
You are the one healing the sick, casting out devils, and showing them the way.
